The Cinema Department has received an invitation from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) to submit one film representing Vietnam to participate in the Preliminary Round of the 98th Academy Awards for the “International Feature Film” category, which will take place in 2026 in Los Angeles, USA.
On June 13, 2025, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued Decision No. 1830/QĐ-BVHTTDL on the establishment of the National Selection Committee to choose the film representing Vietnam for the Preliminary Round of the International Feature Film category (2025–2026 Oscars).
The regulations and eligibility criteria for the 98th Academy Awards have been published by AMPAS at the following link: https://www.oscars.org/oscars/rules-eligibility.
The Cinema Department announces that individuals and film production companies are invited to consider submitting films for the national selection round, which will choose one Vietnamese film to represent the country in the Preliminary Round of the International Feature Film category at the 98th Academy Awards.
Detailed requirements for the application, email address for submission, and deadline are as follows:
Application documents to be submitted via email:
- Official letter addressed to the Cinema Department requesting registration of the film for the selection round.
- Completed registration form (attached with the above official letter).
- A copy of the Film Screening License.
- Film link.

Only films that submit complete documents and fully meet the requirements of Section 16 of the 98th Oscars Rules & Eligibility will be considered by the National Selection Committee. The film receiving the highest number of votes will represent Vietnam in the “International Feature Film” category at the 98th Academy Awards.
The production company whose film is selected will be responsible for completing all information forms via the provided link, bearing all costs for preparing the film copy, promotional materials, and sending them on time in accordance with the “Rule 16 – Special Rules for the International Feature Film Award” of the 98th Academy Awards issued by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS).
