On the evening of April 26, at Nguy\u1ec5n Hu\u1ec7 Pedestrian Street (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City), the Exhibition and Public Film Screening \u201cEchoes of the Great Spring Victory 1975 in Cinema\u201d officially opened. The event celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 \u2013 April 30, 2025), organized by the Vietnam Film Institute in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City.<\/span><\/p>\n

The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism T\u1ea1 Quang \u0110\u00f4ng, Director General of the Department of Performing Arts Nguy\u1ec5n Xu\u00e2n B\u1eafc, leaders from the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committees of the HCMC Party Committee, the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City, the Vietnam Film Institute, the Ho Chi Minh City Cinema Association, along with a large number of artists, filmmakers, and the general public.<\/span><\/p>\n

In her opening remarks, Ms. Nguy\u1ec5n Th\u1ecb Th\u00fay H\u00e0, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Film Institute, affirmed that April 30, 1975 marks a glorious historical milestone, commemorating a great victory in the cause of liberating the South and reunifying the nation.<\/span><\/p>\n

This historic triumph ushered in a new era for the country \u2013 an era of independence, unity, and development along the path of socialism.<\/span><\/p>\n

Through documentaries and feature films that reflect the 30-year arduous struggle or offer artistic perspectives on the people and the development of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnamese cinema has added profound, resonant notes to the eternal epic of national reunification.<\/span><\/p>\n

The exhibition \u201cEchoes of the Great Spring Victory of 1975 in Cinema\u201d is one of the highlight events commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Approximately 300 valuable photographs, excerpted from the film archive of the Vietnam Film Institute, vividly recreate historic milestones ranging from the Tet Offensive of 1968 to the Ho Chi Minh Campaign \u2013 the Great Spring Victory of 1975. The exhibition also portrays the vibrant, modern rhythm of life in Saigon \u2013 Ho Chi Minh City before and after reunification.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe exhibition is held on Nguy\u1ec5n Hu\u1ec7 Walking Street \u2013 a symbolic cultural space in a dynamic and modern city, with the hope of powerfully spreading the patriotic spirit, the indomitable beauty of the Vietnamese people, and the profound cultural\u2013historical values to both locals and international visitors,\u201d Ms. Nguy\u1ec5n Th\u1ecb Th\u00fay H\u00e0 expressed.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the Organizing Committee, during the film screening days from April 26 to May 2, 2025, a series of film screenings and meet-the-crew activities will be held. Notably, at 7:30 PM on April 27 and 28, 2025, expert talks and public film screenings will take place at the exhibition area and outdoor stage on Nguy\u1ec5n Hu\u1ec7 Walking Street.<\/span><\/p>\n

The lineup of films to be screened during this period includes: <\/span>C\u00e1nh \u0111\u1ed3ng hoang<\/span><\/i> (The Wild Field, directed by Nguy\u1ec5n H\u1ed3ng S\u1ebfn) <\/span>Th\u00e0nh ph\u1ed1 l\u00fac r\u1ea1ng \u0111\u00f4ng<\/span><\/i> (The City at Dawn, co-directed by H\u1ea3i Ninh and Nguy\u1ec5n Kh\u00e1nh D\u01b0), <\/span>A meet-and-greet session with the production crew of \u0110\u1ecba \u0111\u1ea1o \u2013 M\u1eb7t tr\u1eddi trong b\u00f3ng t\u1ed1i<\/span><\/i> (The Tunnel \u2013 The Sun in the Darkness, directed by B\u00f9i Th\u1ea1c Chuy\u00ean),...<\/span><\/p>\n

Especially, the documentary film <\/span>Victory Viet Nam<\/span><\/i> directed by Swedish filmmaker Bo \u00d6hl\u00e9n, will also be screened as part of the public cinema program.<\/span><\/p>\n
