On the evening of June 28, the screening and award ceremony of the Humanities Student Film Festival 2025 took place at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City (USSH-VNU HCMC).

The festival is organized by the Faculty of Journalism and Communication, USSH-VNU HCMC as a creative playground for young people passionate about cinema and television. This year, the program was hosted by the Faculty of Journalism and Communication in collaboration with the Young Reporters Club (under the Faculty’s Youth Union). Based on the judging of submissions, the jury selected 18 works for the final round, held on the evening of June 28.

The top 18 finalists competed in three categories: documentary film, short film, and television reportage — with six works in each category.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, Dr. Phan Thanh Định (Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-HCMC) shared: “Each film is the crystallization of passion and creativity — the voice of the youth.” Behind these visually captivating works lie hundreds of silent hours of effort by young crews. Beyond commendable technical skills and editing, each piece carries depth of thought and emotion. It shows that young people are seeing the world with sincerity, responsibility, and compassion.

Tackling a sensitive topic — premarital relations and abortion — the Bien Hoa team hoped to partially convey a message encouraging a healthy lifestyle to young audiences.

Đinh Viết Tường, the protagonist in the documentary Đóa Hoa Tourette (Tourette Blossom), came to support the Z-Crew production team. He felt happy and moved by the audience’s warm reception of the film.

Even Tường himself was surprised when watching the film. The team managed to explore the “hidden corners of his soul” that he hadn’t fully realized. During filming, the crew’s energy made him feel happy and at ease.

“We need to know where our value lies and focus on the positives. No hardship lasts forever. If you have enough passion and talent, success will smile on you,” Tường shared.

By meeting and exchanging ideas with experienced professionals, young filmmakers could gain valuable knowledge and inspiration.
