3. Historical Overview and Significance
The inaugural edition of HIFF, held in April 2024, marked a significant cultural milestone for Vietnam, especially for Ho Chi Minh City. Organized by the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, HIFF was envisioned to transform the city into a vibrant new center for international cinema. As an annual event, HIFF celebrates the art of storytelling through film, offering an international stage where filmmakers, industry professionals, and cinema enthusiasts come together to share their passion and discover diverse narratives from around the globe.
4. Festival Dates
HIFF 2024 took place from April 6 to April 13, spanning 8 days of film screenings, conferences, seminars, exhibitions, and a variety of indoor and outdoor entertainment activities.

HIFF aims to promote Ho Chi Minh City as an emerging hub of the global film industry, fostering international partnerships and showcasing a wide variety of cinematic genres. HIFF is organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Light Music Center and VIETFEST Joint Stock Company, both recognized for their dedication to promoting cultural and artistic activities in Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam.
