The vision of the Ho Chi Minh City International Film Festival (HIFF) is to establish Ho Chi Minh City as an emerging global hub for cinema, showcasing compelling cinematic works that offer profound human experiences from across the world. In its initial steps, HIFF aspires to become a large-scale festival recognized among noteworthy international film festivals—not only for its outstanding films but also for its ability to connect diverse cultures and foster global dialogue through the art of cinema.

2. Mission

HIFF's mission is to showcase the diversity of global cinema and empower filmmakers by providing an international platform that celebrates diverse voices, fosters dialogue, and encourages cultural exchange through the power of storytelling.

3. Historical Overview and Significance

The inaugural edition of HIFF, held in April 2024, marked a significant cultural milestone for Vietnam, especially for Ho Chi Minh City. Organized by the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, HIFF was envisioned to transform the city into a vibrant new center for international cinema. As an annual event, HIFF celebrates the art of storytelling through film, offering an international stage where filmmakers, industry professionals, and cinema enthusiasts come together to share their passion and discover diverse narratives from around the globe.

4. Festival Dates

HIFF 2024 took place from April 6 to April 13, spanning 8 days of film screenings, conferences, seminars, exhibitions, and a variety of indoor and outdoor entertainment activities.

5. Objectives

HIFF aims to promote Ho Chi Minh City as an emerging hub of the global film industry, fostering international partnerships and showcasing a wide variety of cinematic genres. The festival not only celebrates artistic achievements but also encourages cultural exchange and dialogue, enhancing the city's image as a cultural and cinematic destination.

6. Organizing Units

HIFF is organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Light Music Center and VIETFEST Joint Stock Company, both recognized for their dedication to promoting cultural and artistic activities in Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam.
